The "Kanazawa Kimono Tumbler" is made of crepe fabric with a Yuzen pattern, and is inspired by the image of a Kaga Yuzen kimono.
The tumbler is made of stainless steel and has excellent heat and cold insulation properties, and the screw-type lid is designed to prevent the contents from leaking even when tilted. We recommend this as a reward for yourself or as a gift for someone special. Please use it as a companion in your daily life, bringing Kaga Yuzen closer to you.
What is Kaga Yuzen?
Kaga Yuzen is produced mainly in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and its dyeing technique is designated as a traditional craft. Kaga Yuzen, which originated in the mid-Edo period, is characterized by its delicate depiction of the beauty of nature, its realistic expressiveness like a painting, and its calm colors. This technique, which is mainly used for kimonos and obi, is known for producing particularly elegant and sophisticated works among the many Yuzen styles found throughout the country.
Kaga Yuzen began in the mid-Edo period, when the Yuzen dyeing technique established in Kyoto was introduced to Kanazawa, where it developed in its own way by combining with the local climate. It first became popular among common people, and eventually came to be highly regarded in samurai society. Especially under the patronage of the Kaga domain, Kaga Yuzen steadily honed its techniques, becoming known throughout the country for its sophisticated designs and techniques.
About Yuzen Space Studio Hisatsune.
Yuzen Space Kobo Hisatsune is the studio of Kaga Yuzen artist Hisatsune Toshiharu.
Kobo Hisatsune is particularly proud of the "hand-painted Yuzen" technique that has been used since the Edo period. This technique involves drawing patterns directly onto white fabric and then dyeing it over, resulting in a delicate finish that makes each piece a true work of art.
While continuing to preserve traditional techniques, they are also collaborating with various artists from Japan and abroad to try new designs and color usage that suit modern lifestyles and fashion, expanding the possibilities of Yuzen dyeing and bringing its charm to more people.
